This one is for Jermaine.

He didn't get to rise. He was taken before his story had a chance to finish. Before the world got to see who he really was. Before he got to tell it himself.

So I'm rising for him.

Every time I put this on, I carry him. The chained silhouette on the right leg—that's the weight of losing him. The grief. The silence after. The moments I reach for the phone and remember he won't pick up. But as the design rises—from the left leg all the way through the jacket—that's me. Still here. Still moving. Rising because he can't.

By the time it reaches the chest—wings spread, fire burning—that's not just a phoenix. That's a promise. That his story won't be forgotten. That I'll live long enough for both of us.
